After seeing active service in World War Two, Robin Mackworth-Young was librarian at the Royal Household of Windsor and was given the honorary title of Emeritus Librarian from retirement in 1985 until death. His subsequent wealth of knowledge on Windsor and the royal family informed his Pitkin titles.
