Deni Bown developed a passion for plants in childhood and has grown and studied herbs since her student days. Best known for the Encyclopedia of Herbs and their Uses, she has over a dozen books to her name and has contributed as author of photographer to many others. In 1986 she was a winner in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition, and in 1990 won a Garden Writer\'s Association award for Alba – The Book of White Flowers.
