W. Chris Phelps

W. Chris Phelps hails from Richmond, Virginia and was educated in Charleston. He has published two works on Charleston during the Civil war: The Bombardment of Charleston 1863-1865 and Charlestonains in War: The Charleston Battalion. Drawing on his background as a historian, Phelps co-founded America by Foot, one of the largest walking tour companies in the United States, which specializes in tours of Charleston and other parts of South Cariolina.

John Paulett

John Paulett is the author of histories Forgotten Chicago, Printers Row and Pentecost Peanuts Popcorn and Prayer. He is currently working on a history of Catholic social activism. He holds an M.A. in Theology and is completing an M.F.A. in Writing at Antioch University. John is married to the artist Sabina Ott and lives in Oak Park, Illinois

Les Palmer

Les has 15 years’ experience of participating in pub quizzes, and of writing and running his own quizzes.  Perhaps the quizzing highlight of Les’s life was when he represented Ipswich’s John Bull pub on TV’s Eggheads in 2009.  Although gutted that his team ultimately met with (heroic) failure, Les had the personal satisfaction of defeating Judith Keppel, first ever £1 million winner on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, in their individual contest on the subject of music (though this triumph was somewhat tempered by Judith’s own admission that she is rubbish at pop and rock).

Katherine Pogson

Katherine Pogson specialises in distinctive leather treatments including sculpted vessels, accessories and bespoke pieces for interiors. An up and coming designer with a client list featuring Donna Karan and Trussardi, Katherine is based in the Cockpit Arts Depot, London.

Shona Crawford Poole

Shona Crawford Poole is a former Times cook and has written eight cookery books including The New Times Cook Book, The Sunday Times Cook’s Companion and the bestselling Ice Cream.

Tim Pilcher

Tim Pilcher is a pop culture expert who has spent 20 years working in and around the comics industry, as an assistant editor for DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, and as an associate editor of the industry tradepaper, Comics International. He also co-founded Les Cartoonistes Dangereux publishing house. He lives in Brighton, England.

Aubrey Powell

Aubrey Powell founded the now highly acclaimed design company Hipgnosis with Storm Thorgerson in 1968 after graduating from the London School of Film Technique. Album cover design work undertaken includes Led Zeppelin, Paul McCartney, Pink Floyd, Bad Company, Genesis, Yes, Peter Gabriel and 10cc to name but a few.

Jo Pink

Jo Pink has been involved with words and word games since graduating from York University with a degree in German, Swahili and Linguistics. She has worked for various trade publishers and magazines. Her first book Are We There Yet? (9781843406006) was published by Collins and Brown in 2010.

Brian Page

Brian Page became captivated by China at an early age; his grandparents lived in China from 1915 to 1949 and his mother was born and raised there. He is currently a professor at the University of Colorado where he is the chair of the Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences.

Mo Palmer

Mo Palmer is a native New Mexican who has lived in Albuquerque for fifty years. She worked at the Albuquerque Museum for fifteen years as a volunteer and as photo archivist, curating a 100,000-item historical collection. She is also a freelance writer and has coproduced eight Albuquerque history documentaries. Palmer writes a monthly history column for the Albuquerque Tribune, has collaborated on an exhibit and catalog with the National Hispanic Cultural Center, and is an oral historian. She teaches New Mexican history to seventh-grade students at Sandia Preparatory School.
